Only a few months ago (September 2009) Panik came out with their new album and their new name, or their even older name. And now these six guys are on their goodbye tour. We had a unique opportunity to enjoy them in Frankfurt before their very last concert in Hamburg.
It's true that everything wasn't easy for them in last couple of years. They succeed very fast as Nevada Tan, they've attracted a lot of fans but also people like Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) support them. Their first album has been sold 100.000 times and Panik have succeeded abroad too. Their concerts are sold out; their songs are played in radios and TVs in Germany, as well as in France; they have fanclubs all over the Europe. These six guys could also experience mega-concerts in Belorussia and China and their debut album was awarded gold in Russia. For a band which is just at the beginning are all these things definitely a reason for a party. But not everything was right behind the scenes. After years and half of court process the band took back their old name Panik and it was over for Nevada Tan. So, their "Neustart" could begin again. Unfortunately, shortly before their upcoming tour, the band announced that it would be their last tour and after it the band members are going to go separate ways. It was a huge shock for the fans. But even though it's really sad, the fans will have the opportunity to enjoy a few more concerts. One of them is taking place in club Nachtleben in Frankfurt.
We can feel both, joy and excitement mixed with sorrow, before the concert. After the opening band and re-setting the stage, the show can finally get started. German rock band from Neumunster won the fans' hearts since the first second. We could hear songs from the new album Panik, but also old classic from the first album Niemand Hort Dich. Almost all the songs are written by rapper Timo and entirely in German to express the feelings better. Good example is the single from their new album, Lass Mich Fallen, which of course wasn't missing on their Frankfurt concert. This song is about how to gain your strength again. If someone isn't happy in his/her life, it's his/her own responsibility to change something and stand up again. And people, who know this band's story, believe them these feelings. Also slower tunes could be heard and fans used lighters and cell phones to create the right atmosphere. But slow tunes appear in their songs only rarely. Their lyrics are usually provocative and rebellious, oriented on today's youth's problems, and mixed with hard rock.
Even though the fans didn't want to let the night end, the concert couldn't last forever and so the guys said goodbye with the song Ein Letztes Mal (The last time), the best choice when we consider the situation. But of course they came back on the stage with four bonus songs, two of which could be choice of the fans. Their biggest hit Revolution couldn't be missing and Panik ended their concert with the song Vorbei (The End).
There was a lot of tears and sorrow in the fans' faces. However, it was just over of the Frankfurt's concert, and Timo promised that David and he - the founders of the band - will keep making music under the name Panik. So we can just hope that we will hear from them and from other members of the band pretty soon.
